Founded in 1907, "Shogetsudo" is a specialty chestnut confectioner offering representative local delicacies of Gifu Prefecture's Nakatsugawa, such as "Kuri Kinton" and other creative chestnut sweets. Nakatsugawa, rich in mountain produce, has long harvested many wild chestnuts, leading to the creation of dishes and sweets using them. Among the many shops handling chestnuts in Nakatsugawa, Shogetsudo continues to deliver chestnut sweets made with local chestnuts, one by one, with traditional methods to all over the country.
Shogetsudo's "Kuri Kinton Yokan" is a chestnut confection unique to Nakatsugawa, the land of chestnuts, where the smooth and moist "Kuri Kinton," made with great care from raw chestnuts, is wrapped in a lightly sweetened yokan. It is a new yokan that allows you to enjoy the smooth red bean paste, the moist kuri kinton, and traditional Japanese sweets all in one.
To enjoy the original deliciousness, simple aroma, and texture of chestnuts, Kuri Kinton is made using traditional methods without straining, preserving the old ways. Therefore, occasionally, the inner skin may be mixed in, but please enjoy it as the natural flavor of the chestnut.
