Echizen lacquerware with the "fire pattern" incorporating Ainu style!
This is a collaborative product between Sumio Watanabe, an artist from Lake Akan Ainu Kotan, and "Rokurosha," which produces Echizen lacquerware in Fukui Prefecture.
Ainu patterns representing ape (= Ainu word for fire) are applied with maki-e lacquer on lacquerware with a raised base inspired by the Ainu ceremonial tool "Tuki."
Recommended as souvenirs for foreigners or as gifts for those who love Japanese history and traditional crafts.
We now offer two types: bowls and cups.
The bowls can be used for various soups, including the traditional Ainu soup "Ohau."
Please feel free to use them in your daily dining table along with the cups.
