Wool Layered Stole

A wool layered stole using the multi-weave technique. It is woven in an X-shape like a 3D printer. Two fabrics are woven simultaneously, along with the "setsu-ketsu" that holds them together so they don't separate. The overlapping colors created by pre-dyed warp and weft threads result in a profound hue called "ori-iro" (woven color). The geometric pattern at the joint adds a design accent. Two by two, then multiplied by two again for the front and back. This stole, which can be viewed in a total of eight ways, can be worn, tied, folded, or twisted.

Some things remain unchanged through the ages. "Woven fabric" is a primitive fabric created by interlacing warp and weft threads, with records dating back over 5000 years to ancient Egypt. Banshu-ori, woven by the people of North Harima, Hyogo, formed a production center from the late Edo period and became a world-renowned high-quality pre-dyed fabric in the Showa era.
