SHIRONAMESHI

Shiro-namashi (white tanning) is a tanning technique passed down from ancient continents to Japan, produced in the Ichikawa River in the Takagi district of Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, for over 1000 years. This method, which tans hides using only water, salt, and rapeseed oil without chemicals, had once disappeared. However, a single craftsman, determined not to let it vanish, delved into literature, conducted repeated trials, and is now progressing towards the completion of their ideal Shiro-namashi leather. There is currently only one Shiro-namashi tannery (leather manufacturing factory) in the world. This leather, created solely with natural blessings, has a beautiful, deep beige-like milky white color and a unique texture. While it may have scratches and unevenness due to minimal artificial processing and preserving its natural texture, these imperfections lend it a unique, avant-garde, and elegant quality, making it a material Japan proudly presents to the world.
