An English photographer whose work focuses on music, portraiture, and street photography.
He studied at Glasgow School of Art and the Royal College of Art in London, and served as an in-house photographer for "NME" and "Sounds" in the 1980s, also working with media such as "The Face", "i-D", "Spin", "Rockin'on", and "Rolling Stone", as well as international record labels. His work, particularly acclaimed for documenting the rock, punk, and new wave scenes of the 1970s and 80s, includes numerous portraits of musicians who represent rock history, such as Iggy Pop, Joe Strummer, Ian Curtis, David Byrne, and Ozzy Osbourne. His work emphasizes bringing out the subject's natural personality and atmosphere, often using black and white photography, and is characterized by works that are a hybrid of documentary and portraiture, capturing the subject's true face and behind-the-scenes moments, strongly conveying the atmosphere of the time.
