Charles Peterson is a photographer who documented the Seattle music scene from the late 1980s through the 1990s. He began taking photographs while in high school and later studied photography at the University of Washington. His unique visual style and early work with Sub Pop Records became an important emblem of the phenomenon known as grunge. His notable photo books 「SCREAMING LIFE」「TOUCH ME I'M SICK」 contain valuable shots of various bands that were active in the independent scene at the time.
This photo T-shirt features a rare shot of Kurt Cobain, who was staying at the Seattle boutique hotel 「Inn at the Market」, holding his beloved Ren doll. This photograph was taken for publication in the news magazine Advocate. Shot on January 1, 1993.
The body is crafted with meticulous attention: a 25mm-wide neck rib, single-stitch hems and sleeves (single-fold hem), all seams single-lock stitching, recreating the feel of the 1990s. The 6.2-ounce fabric knitted from 100% American cotton is made in the USA and, of course, tubular knit. This special piece is sewn and printed in Japan.
