■ Photochromic Lenses (Photochromic)
Photochromic lenses change their tint depending on the amount of ultraviolet light. They darken when exposed to strong UV outdoors and become lighter in places with weak UV such as indoors.
The material used is polycarbonate, which is highly impact resistant (more than 30 times the strength of acrylic). Even if broken, it is less likely to shatter.
It is so safe that it is used for airplane windows, offering top-class impact resistance among plastic materials.
It is difficult to break even when struck with a hammer and is sometimes used in ballistic materials.
■ Frame & Flexible temple arms
The frame material uses TR-90 developed by Swiss company EMS.
It is lightweight and has high springiness and memory, with excellent heat and moisture resistance. It is also resistant to deterioration and has a long lifespan.
TYMER products have a wire frame built into the temple tip (the part that hooks over the ear), and by gently heating and applying pressure slowly, the shape can be adjusted.
The temple tip greatly affects comfort and fit, so it is designed to be adjustable to the optimal shape for each person.
■ Nose pads
TPR is used for the nose pads that contact the skin.
With rubber-like properties and excellent oil and weather resistance, TPR is gentle on the skin, provides a comfortable fit, and delivers excellent grip suitable for active use.
Like the temple arms, the nose pad arms are also adjustable and designed to be changed to the optimal shape for each individual.
■ Temple rubber
TPR is used on the inner side of the temple arms.
The temple rubber features different colors depending on the model.
With rubber-like properties and excellent oil and weather resistance, TPR is gentle on the skin, provides a comfortable fit, and delivers excellent grip suitable for active use.
■ Hinge (5-piece hinge)
The barrel hinge uses nickel silver made by Kanghua.
Nickel silver is an excellent alloy characterized by corrosion resistance and high strength at elevated temperatures, widely used in both corrosive and high-temperature environments.
Also, while three-piece hinges are common, a five-piece hinge is used here. It is strong against vertical forces and torsion and has a robust construction.
