The frame is matte black, and the lenses feature both photochromic functionality that changes brightness according to UV exposure and polarization to cut reflected light for a clearer view.
■ Photochromic Lenses (Photochromic)
Photochromic lenses change their tint depending on the amount of ultraviolet light. They darken in strong outdoor UV and become lighter indoors or in low-UV environments.
The lenses are made of polycarbonate, a material notable for being highly impact-resistant (over 30 times stronger than acrylic). Even if broken, it is less likely to shatter into dangerous fragments.
Polycarbonate is used for airplane window glass thanks to its high safety, making it among the top-performing plastics for impact resistance. It is difficult to break even when struck with a hammer and is sometimes used in ballistic materials.
■ Frame & Flexible Temple Arms
The frame material uses TR-90 developed by Swiss company EMS.
It is lightweight, highly elastic with excellent memory, and offers superior heat and moisture resistance. It is also resistant to deterioration and has a long service life.
The ear-hook portion (modern) of TYMER temple arms contains an internal wire frame that can be reshaped by gently heating and applying gradual pressure.
The modern (ear tip) greatly affects comfort and fit, so it is designed to be adjustable to the optimal shape for each wearer.
■ Nose Pads
TPR is used for the nose pads that touch the skin.
TPR, with rubber-like properties, has excellent oil and weather resistance, providing a gentle, comfortable fit and superior grip suitable for active use.
Like the temple arms, the nose pad arms are adjustable, allowing customization for an optimal fit.
■ Temple Rubber
TPR is used on the inside of the temple arms.
Temple rubbers are color-matched depending on the model.
TPR, with rubber-like properties, has excellent oil and weather resistance, providing a gentle, comfortable fit and superior grip suitable for active use.
■ Hinge (5-barrel hinge)
The barrel hinge uses nickel silver made by Kanghua.
In addition to corrosion resistance, nickel silver has high strength at elevated temperatures and is a superior alloy widely used in corrosive and high-temperature environments.
Also, instead of the typical 3-barrel hinge, a 5-barrel hinge is used, making it robust and resistant to vertical forces and torsion.
