This is a hand mirror featuring a motif of a round, peacefully sleeping, happy-looking cat, made using the traditional Edo kimekomi technique.
Kimekomi is a method in which grooves are carved into a base made from "touso" (a clay formed from powdered paulownia wood) and dressed in beautiful garments.
