I tried on both M size and S size.
The M size had enough room to fit one finger, but they didn't slip off when walking.
The S size was a bit difficult to put on, but once on, they felt snug without any rubbing or pain.
Considering that the material is genuine leather and will conform to my feet over time, I thought the S size would be better.
If your foot size is around 23cm and you have wide feet, the M size is recommended.
