These two films, quietly placed on the shelves of video rental stores as VHS horror works, spread their "terrifying" experience through word-of-mouth, becoming the starting point and origin of the J-horror movement. And they are still talked about today as legendary works.
For their first official theatrical release 25 years after their production, complete supervision by Takashi Shimizu, the director and screenwriter, who is the "creator of the curse," has been realized for both video and audio.
This has created a new horror experience to be savored on the big screen, boosting the works. The 4K master, converted to high-resolution and high-definition video, has been enhanced with 5.1ch surround sound effects added to the original stereo sound source, updated to deliver a delicate yet powerful horror experience.
