"Bee's Knees" is an old English expression that literally translates to "bee's knees." It is used to mean "the best, something exceptionally good."
The brand name is a play on words, combining "Bee" (from illustrator Ikenouchi "B"'s name) and "Knees" and "Needs" (demand, desired things).
