Recycled Nylon Sports Jacket

"Props Store" in Harajuku is a shop I really like. What I like about it is the candy-shop-like fun. I really like how everyday items and Tokyo's real street style are mixed together.
Tokyo summers are extreme — hot and humid — and sometimes you stop caring about fashion. By mid-August you can get completely tired of clothes and stop caring. That's when I always feel the charm of this shop. Of course winter is nice too, but their summer selection is full of attractions you won't find in other stores.
When you go to the store, cheap mesh shorts and printed T-shirts are lined up, and there's always something that makes you think, 'Yes, this is cool.' It's the feeling of relaxedness mixed with seriousness. I really like that.
This jersey is inspired by the Props Store I always think of in summer. The feel of those US military jerseys they always carry, and the feeling of swimwear. I usually only wear natural materials and seriously think I don't need synthetic clothes at all, but no — midsummer is a different story. Nylon is good too.
We started by making nylon shorts, and since we were at it we made a top too, but thinking that longer pants would be better we made a two-pattern setup. Of course I'll wear this as it gets increasingly humid, and I think I'll be wearing it from the height of summer through to autumn." (A.H)
