Recycled Nylon Running Shorts

"I really like 〈Props Store〉 in Harajuku. What I like about it is the playful, candy-shop-like atmosphere. The mix of everyday items and Tokyo's real street pieces feels really great.
Tokyo summers are extreme and hot, with high humidity that makes you not care about fashion. Around mid-August you completely get tired of clothes and stop caring. That's when I always feel the charm of this shop. Of course winter is nice too, but their summer selection is full of charms other stores don't have.
When you go to the shop, cheap mesh shorts and printed T-shirts are lined up, and there are always items that make you think, "Yes, this is cool." It's that feeling of effortless cool combined with seriousness. I really like that.
This jersey is inspired by the Props Store I always think of in summer — that vibe of the US military jerseys they always have and the feeling of swimwear. I usually only wear natural materials and seriously think I don't need synthetic clothes at all, but no, midsummer is different. Nylon is good too.
We started by making the nylon shorts, and since we were at it we made the top too, but we thought it would be better to have long pants as well, so we made two variations of the set-up. Whether for the increasingly humid recent days or from the height of summer through to autumn, I'm sure I'll be wearing this." (A.H)
