A guinomi (sake cup) made with "Odate Magewappa," a traditional craft from Akita. "Odate Magewappa" refers to a vessel made by thinly cutting straight-grain Akita cedar boards, boiling and bending them, then sewing them together with cherry bark. Akita cedar is one of Japan's three most beautiful forests, and to withstand harsh winters, it develops fine, uniform, and beautiful annual rings. The greatest charm of a magewappa guinomi is that its interior is unpainted, allowing you to enjoy the subtle aroma of wood along with your sake. Sake infused with the refreshing scent of natural cedar is exceptional, much like barrel-aged sake. Wood also has excellent insulating properties, allowing it to maintain the ideal temperature for cold or hot sake for a long time.
