Mutsuko Yamashiro

Collaboration of Kyoto crafts

This is a top-quality, durable and supple stole made entirely by Kyoto artisans: threads made by finely shredding and twisting Kurotani washi with silk thread are woven using the Tango chirimen technique and dyed with Kyoto kanoko shibori.

Kurotani washi, which has a history of over 800 years, is carefully finished one sheet at a time by skilled craftsmen using the traditional hand-made papermaking technique.

The more you use it, the more it adapts to your skin and develops a pleasing patina — a 'stole that grows with you.'

The calm indigo plant-dyed stole is an exceptional piece that suits both Japanese and Western attire.

Recommended as a birthday or longevity gift.
