'Bee's Knees' is an old English expression which literally translates to 'a bee's knees' and is used to mean 'the best thing; something excellent'.
The brand name is a play on the illustrator Ikenouchi "B"'s name 'Bee' and the words 'Knees' and 'Needs'.
