My name is Fukatsu, one of only two Edo folding fan craftsmen left.

This is a folding fan made from "real soot bamboo," which is now considered a phantom material.

Real soot bamboo is bamboo used for thatched roofs that has been smoked for 100-200 years by the smoke from an irori (sunken hearth), turning it amber. Despite being light, it is extremely durable, resistant to deformation, and has a unique, very attractive luster.
