This is a "mug" whose blue glaze, reminiscent of the sky and blue tones, stands out against a scarlet underglaze.

It has a wide base for stability and is very practical.

The flowing pattern of blue glaze on the outside adds visual variation to the piece.

I make a natural ash glaze by turning sunflowers I grew myself into ash, and mixing it with ashes from burned grapes, sunflowers, figs, and the like.

These days, few potters make glazes themselves from ash, but we are particular about doing so because it has an important effect on the coloration.
