Item Description

From the TV anime "Hikaru no Go" comes a nail clipper featuring Hikaru Shindo/Akira Touya, adorned with the traditional Japanese craft of "Makie"!

Skilled artisans create these using the traditional lacquerware craft of "Makie." Each piece is meticulously handmade by Makie artisans, and even within the same character's design, the colors and patterns vary slightly, making each nail clipper one-of-a-kind. These Makie nail clippers use clippers from KAI Corporation, a long-established cutlery manufacturer founded in 1908. They offer a sharp cut, light feel, and a smooth finish. They come in a luxurious paulownia wood box, making them perfect for gifts!

~What is Makie~
Makie is one of the representative painting techniques in lacquerware. It involves drawing pictures or patterns with lacquer or other paints, and before the paint hardens, sprinkling Makie powder (metal powders such as gold, silver, or colored powder) onto the surface to adhere and decorate it. It is called "Makie" because powder is sprinkled to create pictures, and this name first appeared in history during the Heian period. Each painting is done by hand by skilled artisans, and it is characterized by the dignified colors of gold and silver that even modern printing technology cannot reproduce.
